FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What types of photography do you offer?

Contemporary Portraits, as in my Empowered Portraits Campaign, Personal Branding and Headshots as well as Senior Portraits and Maternity.

Do you only photograph women?

This is a bit of a tricky question. I only market to women, my posing expertise is definitely posing women and I truly want to be a woman’s cheerleader! Having said that, I do enjoy photographing guys, not as much, but they can be okay! 😉 I will absolutely photograph your guy if he wants to come with you for a couple’s portrait or if he needs a headshot.

Do you have a studio and where is it?

I have an in-home studio and it’s located by Oakwood and McGalliard, exact address will be provided after booking your session.

How far in advance should I schedule my photo shoot?

I usually recommend booking your session 2-3 weeks out so you have time to prepare your hair, nails and put together a polished outfit set. If you want something done before this time, we can absolutely discuss it and figure something that would work for you and me.

What days of the week do you schedule the sessions?

Since I work from my home studio and I have a little one that only goes to preschool Monday, Wednesday and Friday, those are the days that I have figured out work best for me and allow me to serve you without disruption.

How long will my portrait session be?

A portrait session experience can last up to 4 hours. The first thing we do when you arrive is get your hair and make-up done and it can take up to one and a half hour depending on hair length. I also know that the first 20-30 min are spent getting comfortable in front of the camera and the rest of the time we just play and create!

How should I prepare for my photo shoot?

This is what out Pre-Session Consultation is for! I truly believe this time is super important not just because you will learn how to select outfits and all the practical preparation you will need but we get to talk about what you want out of this experience, we get to connect as friends and it’s super important to me that we both feel comfortable so the day of the session you don’t feel like getting naked in front of a stranger. I will also provide you with a quick prep guide document you can refer back to if needed.

What should I wear/bring?

Most of my clients will say they have nothing to wear and the truth is, you already have plenty! Outfits don’t have to be complicated or super trendy! I actually recommend more timeless pieces as to not date your portraits but we will discuss how to put your outfits together during our consultation.

What about posing? I do not know how to pose!

I got you, that’s my job! I will suggest poses that feel true to the way you move and that you would see yourself doing. I will give you a thorough posing lesson at the beginning so you know what to expect and how to pose yourself after our session is over!

What type of lighting do you use?

The studio provides natural light and I love starting there but I also use artificial lighting so you can expect your session to be a mix of both and I have several backdrop choices.

What is your retouching philosophy?

I do a light retouching because I want you to look your best real self! That being said, I smooth out some skin as if I was lookin at you from 5ft away and not through the magnifying glass a camera lens can be! I edit out minor blemishes and under-eye circles as well as minimize wrinkles, scars and stretch marks. At your Gallery Viewing,  if you have any requests, we can discuss further retouching.

When/how will I view my photos?

You will see your photos about 10 days after your session. This is the Gallery Viewing and Ordering Session. I will present you with a gallery of 30-50 of the best images that I feel represent you and the story you want to tell.  You will select the images you love and want to purchase.

Do you offer both color and B&W?

Yes, B&W is kind of my first love but I know many of my clients love color and need color for marketing purposes. All the images you purchase will come in both black and white and color digitally but for print you get to choose B&W or Color.

Can I print my photos myself?

Yes, you can but I cannot guarantee accurate color and print quality of any other labs or pharmacy type printing establishments.  You will receive a digital and a print of  your selected images unless you purchased a digital collection, of course.

Can I post my photos on social media?

Most definitely! You can use your photos however you wish.

Will you be publishing my photos online?

I love sharing my clients’ sessions and telling a bit about their story and their experience in their own words,  but totally understand if you’d rather I didn’t. I will ask the question at our viewing appointment and make sure you’re comfortable with it.

Can I bring my spouse, best friend, mother or any other loved one, with me to my photo shoot?

If you are wanting a portrait with your loved one, absolutely! and they can come 20 min before we end your session. If they just want to join you for the fun, I’d say no. And hear me out, having someone else in the room can make you feel like you have to perform for someone and might keep you from relaxing and feeling like yourself. And that’s the exact reason I do not have an assistant, I do not want anyone else to change the dynamic of the day.

When do I choose what package to purchase?

Most of my clients usually have an idea of what package they want and some choose to pre-order, there is a little upgrade available if you choose to, ask me about it! Others decide to wait until they see their photographs to make a decision, either way is fine with me.

Can I order additional prints at a later date?

For sure!

Can I get just the digitals?

Yes! I have digital collections available but if you purchase a print collection, you get the digitals as well.

What if I want to celebrate my birthday with a fun portrait session but I also need a headshot?

I always suggest it anyway! Most of my clients are professional women and I know how valuable a good headshot can be, so, let’s do it!

Do you shoot weddings or families?

Families? sometimes! I do a once a year family photo campaign. Weddings? Not at all! Not even for friends! 😉 The pressure of a wedding is not my idea of fun! I’d totally go to your wedding though! 😉
